Jana Luksts is a pianist fiercely dedicated to the performance of contemporary classical music. Most recently, Jana has performed at the Musikiin Aika Festival (Finland), Internationale Fereinkurse für Neue Musik (Germany) and performed with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra (hr-Sinfonieorchester), featuring Brian Ferneyhough’s rarely performed “Firecycle Beta.” In addition to this, Jana had the pleasure of giving a lecture recital on New Complexity at the Manhattan School of Music during her 2016-17 season. Based in Toronto, her collaborations with chamber musicians feature many premieres of new works by young Canadian composers.
Jana finished her formative studies with Elizabeth Wocks in Kelowna, British Columbia. Following this, she completed her Bachelor’s in Piano Performance with Jamie Parker (Gryphon Trio) at the University of Toronto, where she was awarded the Alice and Armen Matheson full scholarship for the duration of her studies.
